Taxi licensing
We are responsible for the regulation of the
Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Vehicle trades within
Peterborough. In order to ensure that vehicles are safe and
suitable for the purpose, we have has set down minimum standards
for vehicle specifications and regular mechanical inspections are
carried out. Where a taxi meter is fitted to the vehicle, this is
also tested for accuracy. Checks are made to ensure that the
appropriate insurance is in place and that vehicles have a
Compliance Certificate.
We are responsible for making sure that drivers, proprietors and operators of hackney carriages are fit and proper persons to hold such licences.
We have a responsibility to ensure that drivers of private hire vehicles are fit and proper persons to hold their licence.
