The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau has
advised the council that local authorities are being targeted by
alleged suppliers stating their bank details have changed. In
return a new fraudulent account is provided by the alleged supplier
for payments.
To protect our supplier’s payments the council
will be adding additional steps to the current process for changing
supplier bank details. This change will take effect from 01 June
2011. While this change means it will take a few extra
minutes to change bank details, we believe this change is necessary
to reduce the chances of both suppliers and the council becoming
victims of fraud.
Suppliers who have their company bank details
registered with the council will need to register any future
changes via the council’s corporate supplier registration process.
The process uses a web based system called Supplierforce.
If you have already registered with the
council via Supplierforce you can simply login using your password
to make changes to your company details. If you have not
registered it will take around 10 to 15 minutes to do so.
To register on Supplierforce please contact
the member of staff at the council who orders goods or services
from you. They will initiate the registration process for you.
After which, you will receive an email with your unique login
details for Supplierforce.
Please refer to the user guide for step by
step instructions on how to complete your registration.
If you have any questions about this change or
using Supplierforce, please email the council’s procurement team at
