Places on the scheme can be limited and we cannot guarantee that
all eligible children will receive a funded place, but we will do
our best to ensure as many eligible children as possible have the
opportunity to access the funding.
Eligible children who are offered a funded place can access:
- Up to a maximum of 10 hours weekly over 38 weeks in a 52 week
period (term time only).
- Up to a maximum of 7.5 hours weekly every week spread across 52
weeks (including holiday periods) as long as the provider can
accommodate this flexibility.
What is the criteria to be eligible for the funding?
To be eligible for the funding all families must be in receipt
of one or more of the following benefits:
- Income Support/Employment Support Allowance
- Income based Job Seekers Allowance
- Child Tax Credit at the rate higher than the family element
(families must recieve £546 and above per year)
- Extra Working Tax Credit relating to a disability or pension
- Live within one of the identified 15% most disadvantaged areas
Funding will also be offered to the following children:
- Gypsy and Traveller children
- Looked After children
- Children with a Child Protection Plan
Where can my child access the funding?
If your child is offered a funded place this can be accessed at
a pre-school/playgroup, day nursery or network childminder of your
choice who are registered with OFSTED and based in
Peterborough. You will need to contact the provider of your
choice and check they have an available place for your child.
What happens if my income benefits or home address
If your child has already been offered a funded place this does
not change anything. Your child will continue to access the
two year old funding until they are eligible for three year old
What happens when my child is three?
If you have been offered two year old funding, this funding will
continue until your child can claim three year old funding which is
the term following the third birthday.
How do I apply for two year old funding?
Please complete a referral form. This can be found and printed
via the link below or please call the Peterborough
Families Information Service on freephone 0800 29 89 121.
Please send your application to the address shown on the
form. Families can self refer or they can be referred by a
third party such as a health visitor, community nursery nurse,
family support worker or pre-school / day nursery.
Proof of eligibility is also required, therefore you must also
send in with your referral form:
- A COPY of your HM Revenue
& Customs letter or Job Centre Plus documentation confirming
your income benefits. Proof of eligibility is required for
all referrals for two year old funding therefore we need to see a
copy of an up to date income benefit letter/documentation as proof
of income benefit and address.
- If you have moved address since receiving your income benefit
letter/documentation then a separate proof of address is required
such as a copy of a recent utility bill or similar.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS
What happens next?
On receipt of your referral form and copies of the required
proof of eligibility, we will write to you and the referrer (if
applicable) with the outcome of the application. You will be
advised if we are able to offer a funded place or if all places
have been allocated. If all places have been allocated your
child will beplaced on a waiting list if applicable, should a
funded place become available at a later date. However we cannot
guarantee a funded place will become available and your child may
have to wait until they are entitled to receive three year old
