Chestnuts playcentre

We provide a wide range of activities such as arts & crafts, sports, games, imaginative play, reading, cookery and days out.

Facilities available

Chestnuts consists of a large room and two smaller activity areas; most of the activities take place in the main room but children can enjoy smaller group sessions or just the social aspect of the smaller areas. The main room features a pool and football table with an area put aside for reading, homework and game consoles.  Energetic games and competitive style activities are popular at this centre and children are encouraged to assist others in learning new skills. The outside area is instrumental in planning play sessions as the children often prefer to take their play into the natural environment. Our rear space is fully enclosed and offers challenging physical pursuits with:

  • climbing frame
  • tyre swing
  • aerial runway
  • playhouse
  • 9 hole mini golf
  • basketball
  • and the ever popular race course

Staff at Chestnuts work closely with members of the community and schools in the area; the active parents and friends group have worked considerably hard to raise funds for much needed equipment, subsidise trips and to provide a community garden that the children enjoy taking responsibility in maintaining.

We are always looking for people with new skills and ideas to bring to the playcentres so if you have some spare time and would like to help us out please get in touch with your playcentre for more information all help is much appreciated and it is a very rewarding way to spend your spare time. We are here for your children and we try to ensure that, wherever possible, the children choose the activities they want to do; we want your children to have fun and enjoy our playcentres.
