Childcare Sufficiency Assessments - meeting family needs
Over the past few years Peterborough City Council has been
working to assess the demand for childcare services in the
city. We have then compared this to the supply of services
available to better understand how well the needs of children
and families are being met. Our latest report detailing the
findings of this work was completed in early 2011 and can be
read from this page.
The Childcare Sufficiency Assessment 2011 draws
conclusions about Peterborough's childcare market on both a
city wide and more local level. It is a useful document for
families, schools, childcare providers and anybody else with an
interest in the childcare market. It investigates whether existing
childcare provision is sufficient to meet the needs of parents and
carers throughout Peterborough, and aims to identify any gaps in
the market. The report will be updated annually ahead of a full
reassessment in 2014. In the mean time we will work where possible
to close any gaps that have been identified in the city's childcare
market.
The full report for 2011 is available to read here along with a separate executive summary. The
executive summary provides a brief description of what we did, why
we did it and most importantly what we found out. We would
encourage people to start by taking a look at the executive summary
which will help you navigate to the sections of the main
report that you may find particularly interesting.
