Children and Young People Film Awards 2012

The Peterborough Children and Young People Film Awards have been taking place since 2006. This year's awards are based around an Olympic theme in hounour of the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic games.

2012 Union Flag logoShowing films in the classroom helps to motivate children and young people to talk, write and plan so we decided to go one step further and have them make the films themselves. It helps them to explore their imaginations. They have to think about expressing relationships, emotions and stories through words and pictures.

When making films the children design storyboards to show on paper what happens and when. The enjoyment that children get from making films has helped to make them more interested in exploring and understanding other stories.
