The Conference

Peterborough’s first annual conference took place on 28 January 2010 at Kingsgate Conference Centre, and was jointly sponsored by Capita, Serco and GO-East.

The conference, entitled “Bringing It Alive”, was organised to engage and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, including all Children’s Trust partners who will be covered by the new statutory duty to co-operate.

The event was hosted by Michael Cross, Artistic Director at Peterborough Key Theatre, and included keynote speakers, presentations, workshops and short films from:

  • John Richards – Executive Director of Children’s Services at Peterborough City Council and Chair of the Peterborough Children’s Trust Partnership Board
  • Prity Patel – Independent Chair of the Peterborough Safeguarding Children Board
  • Nacro young people
  • Tom Trevarthen – Chair of Peterborough Youth Council
  • Youth Bank members
  • Clare Barham – Deputy Director of Children’s Trusts at the Department of Children, Schools and Families
  • Gillian Beasley – Chief Executive of Peterborough City Council

Conference Programme

The conference was supported by a large display of the work undertaken by many of our partners, including Commissioning, GO-East, Nacro, Relate, Family Action, CAMH Services, Caverstede Children’s Centre, Grafham Water, National Day Nurseries Association, Peterborough Safeguarding Children Bard, Transforming Children’s Services Programme, Workforce Development, 14-19 and Building Schools for the Future team, Ormiston Children and Families Trust, Capita, CAF, Serco, Business Support, Governor Services and Young Lives.
