Caring for children who are difficult to reach

This event is designed to help practitioners develop their communication and engagement skills when working with children and young people who may be withdrawn, have low self esteem or display difficult behaviour as a result of a traumatic experience, separation and/or loss.

It will be particularly beneficial to practitioners who provide care or look after those children on a short term or longer term basis, for example Foster Carers, Residential Workers etc.

Learning outcomes

Participants will:

  • understand the child and their behaviour;
  • understand how to build trust;
  • understand how to help the child develop a sense of identity;
  • understand how to help the child build self esteem

Event fee

Free to all members of the Peterborough Children's Trust.  For all other profit making organisations and organisations outside the Peterborough area a charge of £50 per delegate will be applied.
