Consultation on catchment area changes

The City Council are proposing to make changes to the catchment areas for the schools listed below for entry into school in September 2012

The City Council wishes to consult on the proposed changes to the catchment areas for the following schools:

Brewster Avenue Infant School
Dogsthorpe Infant School
Dogsthorpe Junior School
Fulbridge Primary School
Hampton Hargate Primary School
Hampton Vale Primary School
Newark Hill Primary School
St Augustine’s Junior School
Welland Primary School

Notes:

i)  As part of the Council’s Determined Arrangements for admission into Reception Year 2012, it was stated that further consultation would take place concerning the changes required to catchment areas because of the additional places being established to cope with the continuing rise in the demand for school places

ii)  The Council’s plans to increase the Published Admission Number for Welland School was consulted upon and determined accordingly

iii)  The Council’s plans to establish a new primary school at Hampton have begun by the launching of a school competition

iv)  The Council’s plans to establish a new primary school at Cardea have now been approved

v)  Other small changes are as the result of some anomalies in the existing catchment areas contained in the School Admissions Booklets

vi)  Comprehensive spreadsheets and maps are available below

vii)  Changes to catchment areas do not affect the ability of parents to list any 3 schools as their preferred schools on the application form and for those 3 preferences to be treated as equal in the allocations process. However the changes will affect the allocation of places, as living in the catchment area for a certain school is a higher oversubscription criterion.

Consultation

Consultation will now take place with all interested parties and letters to this affect have been sent to the Governing Bodies of the Schools, Diocesan representatives and neighbouring local authorities as well as information being made available for parents.

The Consultation will commence on Monday 13 June 2011 and last for 6 weeks (ending on Sunday 24 July 2011). Responses should be made to the person below or by email to assets@peterborough.gov.uk
