About the project
This three year project, which started in September 2005, aims
to improve and support the reading and writing skills of children
and young people in Peterborough.
Our aim is to raise the profile and importance of literacy
skills for life choices across the city by:
- fully engaging the support of the business and wider community
in the work of schools
- further encouraging, advertising and providing opportunities
for individual and family literacy learning
To achieve this we are working with schools, businesses,
Peterborough libraries, parents and children in Peterborough
through schemes such as the Children's Film Awards and Reading
Buddies.
Our partners
We have had a great deal of support from the business community,
and from organisations across Peterborough. The support comes in
all forms, from volunteers for our reading buddy scheme to resources that help fund
projects, such as the children's film awards.
