government department responsible for drawing up and implementing
education policy at national level.
Ofsted
Website of the Office for Standards in Education -
the non-ministerial government department responsible for
monitoring standards in all maintained schools and Local
Authorities in England. School inspection reports can be viewed on
the website and there is a section on publications.
Teachers' TV
Teachers TV was a government
funded TV and online video service that operated until April 2011.
In agreement with the Department of Education all 3,500 Teachers TV
programmes are now available on TES Resources and with four other
hosts. The value of Teachers TV on TES is that it now coexists
within an active community of teaching professionals and related
free teaching resources. Teachers TV supports the professional
development of anyone working in school, enabling them to widen
their skills, develop their practice, and connect with others in
the field.
GEL - Governors on line training
The training on GEL supplements conventional
face to face training rather than replacing it. It provides an
opportunity for governors to access training more easily from their
own homes, offices and schools and promote discussion about a range
of topics in governors' meetings.
Open learn
The training on Open
learn supplements conventional face to face training
rather than replaces it. Run by the Open University, it provides an
opportunity for governors to access training more easily from their
own homes, offices and schools and promote discussion about a range
of topics in governors' meetings.
