Continuity of education transport

Continuity of education is for children in year 10 and 11 who have moved and require transport to there existing school as they are in their examination years.

Free transport, or assistance with transport costs, will be provided from the new home (parental or foster) to their existing school providing all of the following conditions are met:

  • the school attended was the designated or nearest suitable school to the family/foster home before the move. Please submit proof of your old address (e.g. utility bill) and new address (e.g. copy of Exchange of Contracts or Tenancy Agreement).
  • the pupil is undertaking public examination courses in Years 10 and 11.
  • the new home is within the Peterborough City Council boundary.
  • the new home to school distance is beyond the walking distance of three miles.
  • the proposed journey time from home to school, using existing transport, does not exceed 75 minutes.

Provision will be made only until the end of the course. If a pupil is taking public examination courses in other school years, provision of transport will be at the discretion of the Director of Children’s Services.
