Students for whom a statement is maintained
If you have a statement of special educational needs and are
remaining in school based provision and without transport you would
be unable to receive the educational provision specified in your
statement.
Students for whom a statement is not maintained
If you previously had a statement of special educational
needs and attend the nearest appropriate sixth form or college you
may be eligible for assistance with transport, subject to an
assessment of your needs. Assistance with travel for students
above school leaving age is discretionary and is subject to regular
review and possible change.
Students receiving funding
If you have had a statement of special educational needs and
attend a placement, funded by the Learning Skills Council, at a
specialist establishment outside the further education sector.
If you are applying for free transport for a child with special
educational needs you must contact the children's services
department.
