Communities working together

Often new arrivals to a city can feel isolated and alone.  If you are a new arrival to the city we can support you by helping you to get in touch with people from your own community or we can help you to develop your own community organisations. If you are part of a community group or are interested in starting one, we will provide ongoing support and training on how to establish, manage and sustain a group with other members of your community.

Meet people from your own communities

The project can:

  • Help to establish the aims and objectives of your community group
  • Help to formalise a committee and create a constitution
  • Help to develop a business plan and management skills
  • Help in accessing training in areas such as bid writing, marketing, fundraising and media skills
  • Offer use of meeting rooms and offices, telephone and fax, computers with internet, printers and photocopiers
  • Provide regular information packs containing updated information on services delivered, training, conferences, advice available and contact details of other organisations and agencies
  • Assist in designing promotional material such as a logo, leaflet, newsletter or website
  • Create the opportunity to meet and work with other local and national community organisations
