What are Neighbourhood Committees?

Neighbourhood Committees are made up of elected city council members as well as representatives from parish councils, the police authority, fire authority and members of local community groups, plus ordinary members of the public.

The first meetings for each of the seven neighbourhood committees have now taken place. At these meetings residents met their neighbourhood committee chairmen, their ward councillors and their neighbourhood managers. These meetings heralded the dawn of a new era in Peterborough. Neighbourhood committees are a new way for you to give your views about issues and services in your area, in your own community, rather than having to attend meetings in the Town Hall.

In the future, you will be able to put forward your views on how funding could be spent in your area to help shape what happens in your neighbourhood. Neighbourhood committees are made up of elected city council members as well as representatives from parish councils, the police authority, fire authority and members of local community groups, plus ordinary members of the public

The committees will give you a chance to give your views on a multitude of local services, among them street cleaning, abandoned vehicles and the dog warden service. They will also be able to give their views on the yearly programme of highways works, allotments, parks, open spaces, public toilets and car parks. As the councils take shape, don’t miss your chance to play a role in local services.
