The ceremony is designed to meet a family’s individual needs and
provides a dignified and formal opportunity to welcome a new member
to the family and to the community. During the non-religious
ceremony you can announce the names that you have chosen, make
commitment promises to your child and also choose other adults to
provide support. Family and friends are usually invited to share in
the occasion. These ceremonies are not just for babies - children
of any age can have a naming ceremony. A commemorative certificate
will be signed and presented during the ceremony.
The occasion can be held at the Register Office or at one of
several licensed venues.
