Peterborough Council for Voluntary Service supports voluntary
and community groups in Peterborough providing a membership,
networking and services such as advice and information through to
photocopying. In addition PCVS produces a monthly newsletter which
includes both local and national news for the sector. This is an
excellent source of advertising for any not for profit local group
who wishes to promote their event, service or activity. An up to

Alongside providing a network of over 500
members (voluntary, community groups, registered charities and
other non profit making organisations) PCVS host a number of other
services these currently include (June 2011):
- Peterborough Volunteer
Centre – supporting both people interested in volunteering
and volunteer involving organisations. The Centre holds a
database of around 800 volunteering activities needed in the
city.
- Peterborough Shopmobility –
free wheelchair loan scheme for anyone with mobility difficulties
wishing to shop, visit or access places in the Queensgate Shopping
Centre and close surrounding areas.
- Peterborough Carers Centre –
supporting adults who care for their family or friends in
Peterborough. Services include one to one support, drop in, social
activities and newsletters.
- Peterborough Learning Disability
Advocacy Service – for both adults with learning
disabilities and their carers the service offers one to one and
group advocacy support. There is also a weekly Parents
Together service for people with learning disabilities and their
children.
- Peterborough Direct Payments
Scheme – provides a range of support to anyone in receipt
of Direct Payments which provides their care needs. Services
include one to one advice, quarterly forums, payroll and financial
recording advice.
