Benefit fraud

It is estimated that £2 billion is stolen from the public by benefit cheats every year. That adds up to £80 per year for every household in Britain. Our fraud team is working towards stopping that money being lost but we need your help. If you think someone is getting benefits that they are not entitled to then please tell us.

If you had an extra £2 billion for local services what would you do with it?

  • Spend it on our schools?
  • Spend it on our hospitals?
  • Help increase the number of police on the streets?
  • Reduce your council tax bills?
  • You won't get that choice because benefit cheats have spent it on themselves!

Report a fraud to us

You can report a benefit cheat online by using this form or you can telephone the Fraud Hotline on the telephone number shown below. You can talk to us between 8.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday. If you ring outside these hours then we have a 24 hour answer machine. This service is confidential and you do not have to leave your name.
