Community Leadership Fund
The purpose of the Community Leadership Fund
is to enable elected members to seek support for projects that will
have a positive impact on communities within their wards.
This may relate to projects across the whole
city and is not limited to amenities within particular wards,
providing councilors are satisfied that communities within their
own wards will have the opportunity to benefit.
£10,000 is available each financial year per
ward.
Application Criteria
The critieria for each application is as follows:
- The overall objective for any approved project must be to
promote the social, economic and/or environmental well-being of the
ward.
- It must support the sustainable Community Strategy.
- The project must not be contrary to Council Policy. If
so, it must be referred to Cabinet for a final decision.
- The project must be lawful.
- Projects encouraging or discouraging political action, for
example protests, are not permitted.
- All projects will be subject to obtaining all necessary
consents, authoroties, licences, permissions from the Council or
otherwise (any of these costs must be funded from the project
sum.)
- The project should have no ongoing financial consequences for
the Council, unless an agreement has been made with the Director of
the service area concerned and evidence of this is submitted with
the application.
- There should be no retrospective applications for
funding. The applications and necessary approvals must be
completed prior to the project being implemented
- All monies are
to be spent by 31st March, unless prior approval is sought from the
Leader of the Council and the Executive Director of
Operations.
