Petitions - Name Change of Fletton Ward

Two petitions were submitted to the Council by Councillors Lee and Serluca on 8 December 2010 and were signed by 57 people.

The petitions supported the changing of the name of Fletton Ward to Fletton and Woodston Ward

The petitions were referred to the Community Governance Manager for consideration.

Response to the Petitions

The Council's Community Governance Manager has stated that the details of the petitions will be passed to the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) along with all other representations when it considers the proposal to change the name of Fletton ward to Fletton & Woodston ward.

If the LGBCE gives its consent to the name change, the decision on whether or not to change the ward name is due to be considered at a specially convened meeting of full Council at 6.30pm on Wednesday 23 February 2011.  Details of the petition will also be presented at this meeting along with other representations.

At the full Council meeting held on Wednesday 23 February 2011 it was resolved to change the name of Fletton Ward to Fletton & Woodston Ward.
