Petition - Against enclosure of field next to Longthorpe Primary School

The petition was submitted to the Council by Mr David Worth on 1st February 2010 and was signed by 370 people.

The petition was objecting to the enclosure of the field next to Longthorpe Primary School and sought to continue shared use of the open access green space by the school and local inhabitants.

Response to the Petition

The Council's Group Manager Development Management responded to Mr David Worth stating that the proposal to fence off part of the shared open space / school playing field formed part of a planning application that also sought to build new classrooms at the school. Given the level of public interest in the fencing off of the shared open space / school playing field, the decision was made to remove this from the proposals. If a new application is made for the fencing off, then this will be publicised.
