Petition - Tintern Rise, Eye

This petition was submitted to the Council by Councillor Sanders on 13 October 2010 and was signed by 41 people.

The petition requested that an available grassed area be replaced to provide essential access and sufficient parking for residents, family members, care staff and emergency vehicles.

The petition was referred to Andy Tatt, Network Management Group Manager for consideration.

Response to the Petition

The petition has been considered and the following response given:

"The area of grass in question which is adopted highway is a relatively small half moon shaped area with a telegraph pole in the centre and services running through (utility cover evidence) and as such would only be capable of acommodating in the region of 8 cars maximum.  As an estimate and depending on depths of services to lower/transfer this would cost in the region of £25K.  Planning guidance would also be sought, given the change of use from public open space to parking.

Unfortunately we do not have the funds to acccomodate this request.  The relatively small area is not ideal to work with, however when I visited in mid-afternoon there was no parking problem on street, I can imagine that the evening may well be a different story.

There has been in recent years additional parking provided through PCC/Cross Keys to the rear of these properties which has improved the situation"
