Guidance for completing your personal registration form

The majority of the sections on the personal registration form are self explanatory. In sections 1 to 6 on the form, please add your name, date of birth, nationality, address and the date on which you moved in.

Section 7

At Peterborough City Council, we ask that you provide documentary evidence to support your application. Please enclose an original document, such as:

  • Gas, water, electricity, telephone or other utility bill
  • Council Tax / Benefit entitlement notification
  • Bank, Building Society or Credit Card Statement
  • Rent book or tenancy agreement
  • Driving license

The choice of document is yours, but it must show in printed format, your name and address. All original documents will be returned to you.

Section 8

Notes on the reverse of the form explain the two different versions of the Register. If you would like to opt out of the Edited Register, you should tick this box.

Section 9

If you tick this box, then a Postal Vote application form will be sent out to you for completion.

Sections 10 & 11

Please let us know your previous address and previous council (if you know it) so that we can ensure you are registered to vote at one address only.

Section 12

You must sign the registration form. If you do not then the form can't be accepted.

The Register of electors

The register of electors is updated on a monthly basis, you should note however, that in the run up to an electon, a person will only be able to vote at that election if their name has been added to the register of electors prior to 11 working days before polling. If you require any further help or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us on 01733 452249, or simply call into the Town Hall.
