The chief executive has overall responsibility for all of the
city council’s 7,716 staff and £260 million budget. She manages the
directors who are accountable for services for more than 42,000
children and young people in the city, 890km of roads, the
collection of £74 million of council tax, waste collection, open
spaces, adult social care services and all the other services
