*During 2003, Rockpools, a market leader in recruitment and
development, was commissioned by the council leader to research the
national level of chief executive remuneration. The findings of
that research identified that the chief executive post at
Peterborough City Council did not compare favourably with the
national position. On this basis, a three-year incremental plan was
introduced to bring the salary into line with the market rate.
There was no retrospective award of ‘back pay’ and no further
adjustments have taken place other than cost of living increases
since 2005.
The chief executive has not taken any pay increases, including
cost of living increases, since 2008.
