One-stop-shop for children's social care services

Peterborough City Council's children's social care service teams are moving to a new home at Bayard Place, Broadway, Peterborough, to create a new one-stop-shop for customers.


There will be a phased re-location of services from multiple sites that will start on Wednesday 20 August 2008. All services will have moved by Tuesday 2 September 2008.
 
The aim of the re-location is to provide better and more central services for vulnerable children and young people in Peterborough.
 
The move supports the council's drive to make services more accessible for customers. It will also enable all teams working with children and young people to take a more joined-up approach and ensure they are providing the best possible service to customers.
 
Affected services include:
 
The referral and assessment team at Laxton House, Lincoln Road, Millfield will re-locate to Bayard Place on Wednesday 20 August 2008. The team's telephone number will change to (01733) 864180 or 864170.
 
The children in need team currently based at Newark Court, Newark Road will move on Friday 22 August 2008. The team's new telephone number is (01733) 864420.
 
The adoption team at Midgate House, Midgate will relocate on Friday 22 August 2008. The new number is (01733) 317448. 
 
The looked after children team which is changing its name to the permanency and children in care team will move from Bretton Green, Rightwell, Bretton on Friday 29 August 2008. The team's new number is 01733 863839.
 
The fostering team at Midgate House will transfer to Bayard Place on Friday 29 August 2008.The team's new telephone number is (01733) 317427.
 
The children with disabilities team will be renamed children's integrated disability service and will move from Herlington House, Benyon Grove, Orton Malborne on Wednesday 27 August 2008. The team's new number is 01733 864397.
 
The access to resources team at Peterborough Professional Development Centre, Cottesmore Close, Westwood, will re-locate on Wednesday 27 August. The team's new number is (01733) 863840.
 
The workforce development team at Peterborough Professional Development Centre, Cottesmore Close, Westwood, will re-locate on Wednesday 27 August. The team's new number is (01733) 864576.
 
The children in need team based at Herlington House, Benyon Grove, Orton Malborne, Peterborough, is changing its name to the assessment and care planning team and will move to Bayard Place on Wednesday 27 August. Its new telephone number is (01733) 864376.
 
The leaving care team at Bretton Green, Bretton, Peterborough, will not move to Bayard at the moment. However the team's telephone number will change to (01733) 864371.
 
The family assessment and support service (FAST) at Orchard Street also stays at its current location but the number will change to (01733) 864333.
 
The multi-systemic therapy team can be contacted on (01733) 863846.
 
The new one-stop shop services will be open from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.
 
Maureen Phillips, Peterborough City Council's assistant director for families and communities, said: "Bringing together services for children and young people in care will provide better services for vulnerable children and young people and allow service users to access them in one centrally-located building. Long-term this move will also make the services provided by children's social care more efficient."
 
Councillor Stephen Goldspink, cabinet member for education and children's services, said: "This change in the way children's social care services are delivered is in-line with the council's drive to get all council services into the city centre to make them all as easily accessible as possible.
 
"The customer service centre based at Bayard Place is designed to make it as easy as possible for customers to access services therefore this move should assist customers accessing children's social care services to find the information they need easily."
 
The housing options team will also be moving to the first floor of Bayard Place.
