Peterborough housing strategy 2008 - 2011
The Peterborough
housing strategy 2008-11 was published in March 2008 following
research into the city’s housing situation, and consultation with
public, private and voluntary partners across Peterborough. The
document sets out the long term strategic focus for the housing
agenda across the city.
The Peterborough housing strategy is wide-ranging covering
housing in both the public and private sector, and involving
numerous partner agencies from across the city The strategy is
based around five objectives that reflect the city council’s vision
for housing across Peterborough. These are to:
- Improve the availability of quality housing
- Plan for the growth of the city
- Encourage the development of balanced and mixed
communities
- Ensure service delivery is effective and efficient
- Promote and implement environmental and energy efficient
standards
From these objectives, the Peterborough housing strategy has
drawn out a number of priorities for the city to ensure that this
vision is fulfilled. These priorities include improvements in the
provision of affordable housing, regeneration and improvements to
the condition of existing housing stock, reductions in homelessness
across the authority and improvements in the provision of quality
housing services and advice. The Peterborough Housing Strategy is
supported by an ‘action plan’, which sets out the individual steps
required to deliver on these commitments, including timescales and
lead partners.
