Treat your street

The Treat your street project was constructed to tackle high crime figures and to increase community engagement across some areas of Orton in Peterborough.

Graffiti in the park The one-day events, which represent one street, incorporate intensive community consultation with fun and informative activities for residents. Treat your street brings a core group of organisations together out in the community to deliver these events. This localised, tailored approach means resources are well utilised.

Treat your street has brought to our attention resident concerns around:

  • Litter, dumping, dog fouling and environmental management
  • Young people and related anti-social behaviour
  • Parking
  • Policing and security, including drugs and alcohol misuse
  • The distribution of services throughout Orton

Some of the actions to date from Treat your street include support work with residents to establish a residents association, the establishment of a working group to encourage adult learning with training provided by the Cambridge and Peterborough Learning Trust and partnership working with extended services. These include Cross Keys Homes, who marked out spaces with white lines in areas of Orton to help alleviate parking problems and increased lighting in particularly badly lit spots.
