Poster competition - reception, year 1 and 2 only
As part of Powerdown fortnight Primary and Infant schools
are invited to take part in a competition to design a poster with
the theme:
‘Saving energy at home or in
school’
The school can enter a maximum of 5 posters in
each age category:

- - Primary: year 1 and 2

Spoken word competition - year 3-6 and Secondary only
Competition to write a spoken word piece with the theme:
‘Energy’
The school can enter a maximum of
5 entries each age category:
The spoken word piece can include;
- Poem
(standard, acrostic)
- Rap or
bars

Prizes will be awarded to individuals in each category at the
corresponding prize ceremony.
Powerdown day competition - open to all primary
schools
The Peterborough Powerdown fortnight culminates with the
all important Powerdown day on Friday 23 November or Friday 15
March when schools are encouraged to focus efforts to reduce energy
consumption as much as possible for one day (please see our
Powerdown reading your meter sheet for more instructions on how to
measure your energy use). Where possible we will be running spot
checks on the data with corresponding AMR (automatic meter
readings) where applicable.

Special recognition- open to all participating schools
This award is to be presented to a pupil for special
recognition of his/her efforts in Powerdown fortnight and/or energy
saving in particular.
During and after Powerdown fortnight has
happened you can nominate a pupil who you believe makes an
extra special effort/commitment to energy saving. You can make
up to five nominations per school using the attached form. All
nominees will be entered into a prize draw which will be drawn on
your specific Powerdown prize ceremony.
All entries must be submitted to climatechange@peterborough.gov.uk by
the dates specified on the briefing sheet.
