Listed buildings
Listed buildings are protected structures that are
considered to be of local, regional and national importance for
their historical and architectural significance. Peterborough
has a wide range of historic buildings, the most important are
included in the Statutory List of "buildings of special
architectural or historic interest".
We have over 1060 listed buildings in
Peterborough, These can be viewed on our interactive mapping
system Hawkeye. The Statutory List can also be inspected at
our customer service centre at Bayard Place, Peterborough.
English Heritage currently
operate a website offering a limited photographic database of some
of our listed buildings. Our planning
officers will happily offer advice and guidance to owners about
special consents that may be needed to alter any listed building
and about the likelihood of any proposals being
accepted.
A locally listed building is a building, structure or object which the Council considers to be an important part of Peterborough's heritage due to it's architectural, historic or local significance.
