Listed buildings

Listed buildings are protected structures that are considered to be of local, regional and national importance for their historical and architectural significance.  Peterborough has a wide range of historic buildings, the most important are included in the Statutory List of "buildings of special architectural or historic interest".

We have over 1060 listed buildings in Peterborough,  These can be viewed on our interactive mapping system Hawkeye. The Statutory List can also be inspected at our customer service centre at Bayard Place, Peterborough. English Heritage currently operate a website offering a limited photographic database of some of our listed buildings.  Our planning officers will happily offer advice and guidance to owners about special consents that may be needed to alter any listed building and about the likelihood of any proposals being accepted.
