Pollution is  contamination and degradation of the natural environment.  This could take the form of noise, litter, smells, gases or poor air quality among other things.  As an environment city we take pollution very seriously  This section is full of advice and information about pollution and how it is tackled in Peterborough.

Nuisances

A nuisance is where the actions of another are unreasonable and cause a substantial interference to the use and enjoyment of a resident’s property or are prejudicial to health.

Flytipping

The council treats flytipping as a serious offence and will prosecute any person or company caught flytipping.

Air quality

To monitor air quality Peterborough City Council investigates air pollutants, benzene, 1,3-butadine, carbon monoxide, lead, nitrogen dioxide, particulate matter (known as PM10) and sulphur dioxide.
