If your request was received before 6 October 2008 your benefit
could be backdated for a maximum of 52 weeks from the date that the
request was made. After 6 October 2008 there are new arrangements
for considering backdate requests:
- for Pension Credit age customers (i.e. over 60 years of age)
backdating is limited to three months, and
- for working age customers backdating is limited to six
months
There are also new rules about backdating for working men aged
between 60 and 64. Please contact us for more details.
National leaflets
There are national leaflets (with no
logos or individual contact details) available to view
or print containing eight leaflets offering general
advice and guidance around Council Tax Benefit and Housing Benefit
issues, and two new leaflets about the Local Housing Allowance.
These leaflets are available in 10 languages, with Braille and an
audio version available on request.
