Housing renewal policy

The Housing Act 2004 has brought about changes to the way in which properties are assessed by the Council.

The Housing Health & Safety Rating System [HHSRS] incorporates a full inspection of the property to identify any defects. The inspecting officer will judge whether the defects present a serious risk to the health and/or safety of the occupants or anyone visiting the property. Only the most serious hazards can be dealt with through a Repairs Assistance grant.
