Housing renewal policy

The Housing Act 2004 has brought about changes to the way in which properties are assessed and has replaced the former system based on the test of fitness for human habitation.

The document below sets out in full the policy that has been adopted by Peterborough City Council and includes details of the following:

  • how the Council intends to exercise its article 3 powers and ensure that the statutory qualifications to that power are observed;
  • the types of assistance the Council may make available;
  • the circumstances in which persons will be eligible for assistance;
  • how the amount of any assistance awarded will be calculated;
  • the conditions that will apply to the provision of assistance;
  • how and in what circumstances any assistance made may be repaid.
