2010 Peterborough Festival
This year the Peterborough Festival takes place over two
weeks, starting on Saturday 26 June and finishing on Sunday 11
July. This gives us three great weekend events, with a vibrant
programme in between.
Grand opening - 26 and 27 June
The grand opening weekend kicks off on Saturday 26 June with the
Mayor's procession through the city centre to its destination at
Central Park. The whole weekend is packed full of things to do for
everyone.
Heritage weekend - 3 and 4 July
For the middle weekend the Peterborough Festival moves to the
city centre and brings the rich heritage of the city to life. On
Saturday 3 July visit Peterborough Living History Fayre. Meet
costumed re-enactors in living history displays, battles and
demonstrations in the Cathedral precincts and city centre streets.
Visit our Medieval market with traditional stalls and crafts.
Discover more about Peterborough's past on Saturday and take part
in the Cathedral's Peterfest celebrations on Sunday.
Town and Country weekend - 10 and 11 July
For the final weekend, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 July, the
Peterborough Festival moves to the Embankment and riverside
for our very own Town and Country Fair and the Peterborough Boat
Festival. Attractions include market stalls selling
traditional goods and local produce, animal displays including
birds of prey and shire horses and a fantastic range of traditional
vehicles.
In addition to these three great weekends the intervening weeks
will provide a platform for Peterborough's finest talent,
showcasing their skills in a brilliant mix of theatre, music, art,
dance and poetry.
More detailed information regarding all of these events will be
available. For more details on the Peterborough Festival programme,
