Marco Cereste, leader of Peterborough City Council, said that it will be an unbelievable moment for the city; “It was a real thrill when the Torch was confirmed last year and now it’s really starting to become a reality. Months of hard work have gone into planning the route to ensure that as many residents as possible can be involved and that we show off our beautiful city. Today’s announcement really brings the route to life and we know it will encourage people to come out and line the streets. Peterborough will be the gateway to the east for the Olympic Flame and that’s something the city should be proud of.
