Projects to welcome the flame into the city

The Song for Peterborough and Lions and Unicorns projects are being spearheaded by the city’s media arts specialist school, The Voyager Academy, with support from Peterborough City Council and Vivacity.

The Song for Peterborough

The Song for Peterborough, which will be performed by over 800 local primary school children and members from local community groups, such as Peterborough’s Male Voice Choir. The specially written song for the city, titled ‘There With You’, will be performed live by the group during the evening of the Olympic Torch arrival celebrations on July 3 alongside professional musicians and performers.

Lions and Unicorns

Thirty four colourful and creative Lion and Unicorn sculptures, designed by schools across the city under the watchful eye of city artist, David William Sampson, lined a section of the Olympic Torch route as it made its way from Orton Mere to the Embankment on 3 July.
