Cambridgeshire county council

The new County of Cambridgeshire was created on 1, April 1974, replacing (in this area) Huntingdon and Peterborough County Council.

The main series of records of the County Council, including signed Council minutes and committee minutes, are held at:

Cambridgeshire County Records Office
Shire Hall
Castle Street
Cambridge
CB3 0AP

In addition, some records of the Council's predecessor authorities are also held at Shire Hall in Cambridge, because of their continuing usefulness for the administration of the county.

Peterborough Central Library holds a wealth of Cambridgeshire County Council reports, plans and publications as part of the Local Studies Collection. See under 'Local Government' in the 'List of non-book stock in the Local Studies collection'. This list is available for consultation in the Local Studies and Archive Room at Peterborough Central Library.
