Visiting us

The archives service is open Monday toFriday from 9am to 5pm. We ask customers to make an appointment prior to their visit so that we can ensure we have the material you are interested in. Some late nights and weekend appointments can be accommodated so please ask.

Search our archive catalogues to find out what you can come and view.  All Local Studies and Family History resources are available on a self-service basis at any time during library opening hours.  No appointment is necessary for these. To find out what you can come and use, go to our local history and family history pages.

Enquiries and research service

For those unable to visit the Library we can undertake research on your behalf as part of our research service. Our research service is based on records that we hold here, including family history and local history resources, in which we will look for the information you require. We often undertake checks in parish registers, census returns and local newspapers as well as conducting more extensive research using our local history and archive collections. Payment should be made by cheque or postal order in pounds sterling, and the payee should be Peterborough City Council.
