Library membership
Library membership is free to residents of Peterborough and
gives you access to all of our services and materials. Any person
may use, on the premises, many of the materials and services of
Peterborough libraries without obtaining a library
membership. We would encourage everyone to join in order
to get the most out of what the library has to offer, library cards
may be obtained at any library location.
Library membership
Membership of Peterborough libraries is:
- Required to borrow library materials and use library
computers
- Free to residents of the City of Peterborough
- Free to residents outside of the Peterborough area if they can
prove they live in a bordering county (Cambridgeshire,
Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire) or work/study in the Peterborough
area
- Non-residents may obtain a temporary library membership that
allows limited borrowing privileges and computer use
Peterborough libraries will need you to bring
two separate documents in order to become a member, one
showing your name and signature and one showing your name and
address. The following forms of identification are
accepted:
- Driving Licence
- Passport
- Bank or Credit Card
- Receipted bills for Gas, Electricity, Water,
Telephone Bank/Cheque Card
- Council tax instalment book
- Bank statement
- Medical card
If the applicant is 16 and under a parent's
address identification may be accepted. The parent/ legal guardian
accepts responsibility for items borrowed. Library cards can
be obtained at any Library location.

Data protection information
Your details will be deleted from our system under our Data
Protection policy if you do not borrow at least one item
from the library per year. Computer use does not constitute
borrowing.
