Pre-booked sessions and general information
To book a visit to Peterborough Museum:
Call the Education Team on 01733 864660
E-mail: museum.education@peterborough.gov.uk
We welcome pre-visits from teachers and will do our best to be
available to see you to discuss any issues or questions you may
have (one of the team is usually available throughout museum
opening hours).
We can usually accommodate 2 classes at a time, although we have
worked with up to 4 in certain circumstances and will always try
our best to accommodate you. Most sessions are approximately 1 hour
long, although sessions can always be adapted to meet your
individual needs. Sessions usually start at 10am and finish at
3.30pm, Monday to Friday, subject to availability, they last an
hour.
We have tailored sessions especially to meet the needs of
individual classes if you think we can help you to deliver
something not listed, please don't hesitate to contact us and we
will try to help where possible.

Facilities
We have cloakroom facilities for pre-booked groups and an indoor
lunch space which you can book in advance.
Parking facilities are, unfortunately, limited and we cannot
guarantee that spaces will be available. When booking your
coach it is a good idea to ask that the driver brings you to the
museum entrance and collects you from there at the end of your
visit, although the coach will need to be taken to a nearby coach
park for the duration of the visit.
We can supply proforma risk assessments for your visit, but
strongly recommend that schoolteachers amend these to cover their
own needs.
Sessions offered cover the following subject areas:
History - Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Tudors, English Civil War,
Georgians (Norman Cross), Victorians, World War II, 1950s.
Science - Animals, rocks and fossils, bones
Art - colours, portraits, patterns, using objects
Although aimed primarily at Key Stage 2, many of these
sessions can be targetted to cover age ranges from Key Stage 1
to 4.
