The exhibition briefly discussed the theories as to why the
dinosaurs died out, before it took visitors back into a prehistoric
landscape to see some life sized recreations of these incredible
creatures. There were dinosaur skeletons and models and
visitors had the chance to dig in a dinosaur pit and become a
geologist.
The exhibition featured many real fossils on
display, which were on loan from some other nationally important
collections including the Sedgewick Museum in Cambridge and the
Natural History
Museum in London. Some of Peterborough Museum's own prized and rich
collections of Jurassic Marine Reptiles were also included in the
display, all found in the Peterborough area.
The exhibition was kindly supported by grant
funding from the Curry Fund of the Geologists' Association, and the
Friends of Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery.
Many of Peterborough’s most popular cultural and sporting
facilities are now part of something new. Vivacity.
