Identification and collection enquiries
What's that object?
While the museum is closed our experts do not have
access to our collections, so the only finds we are able to
identify are archaelogical finds. Visitors may bring their
archaelogical finds to Peterborough Central Library on Fridays
during office hours.

Found a strange coin or piece of pottery in
the garden? Granny left you a vase or found strange junk in
the attic? Taken up metal detecting as a hobby?
Bring your objects to the museum for a free
identification. Usually you will have to leave the object for 2 - 4
weeks so it can be investigated by a curator. Sorry, but no
valuations can be given! We can deal with most enquiries about the
collections or the history of Peterborough, however if we can not
answer an enquiry we should be able to advise about who may be able
to answer it for you.
Many of Peterborough’s most popular cultural and sporting
facilities are part of Vivacity, an independent,
not-for-profit organisation with charitable status.
Find out more about
the trust on the Vivacity website.
