Social history
Our social history collections are varied, covering several
areas of interest including: costume from 1600 onwards; coins &
medals; military equipment including uniforms, armour and weapons;
Victorian household items; folk life; ceramics & glass and
photographs of the area.

Items vary from children's toys, samplers,
tobacco pipes, farming tools to Staffordshire pottery and English
drinking vessels. Through the collections we can get closer to
understanding everyday life for everyday people at different times
in history.
We continue to collect items that are relevant
to Peterborough's history or that complement already established
collections.
Many of Peterborough’s most popular cultural and sporting
facilities are part of Vivacity, an independent,
not-for-profit organisation with charitable status.
Find out more about
the trust on the Vivacity website.
