The embankment

The embankment along the river Nene is within easy walking distance of the city centre.

Many events take place throughout the year in this picturesque setting including the Peterborough beer festival, circuses, open-air theatre and concerts. River festivals and river races including the annual Dragon boat race held in early summer are a huge attraction even when the weather is being less than kind. The embankment has overnight mooring facilities and public conveniences.

There is ample parking in the area for those who wish to enjoy a casual walk along the willow tree lined footpath and cyclists can follow the Green Wheel route towards Whittlesey or Flag Fen.  The river is also very popular with anglers at any time of the year (except the closed season).
