Have your say on city's future at neighbourhood council meetings

26 August 2010.

People will be able to find out more about proposals to improve Peterborough’s transport network, areas of the city allocated for growth and the 2011 Census at the next round of neighbourhood council meetings which begin on Wednesday 1 September 2010.

Exhibitions will be available before each of the seven neighbourhood council meetings from 5.30pm (Gunthorpe, Paston, Walton and Werrington Community Committee from 6pm). City council transport planning officers will be able to answer questions on proposals which may be included in the Local Transport Plan 3 (LTP3) document, which will set out the transport high level strategy up to 2026. This forms part of the consultation process for LTP3, which runs from 1 September to 1 December 2010.

Information will also be available on the 2011 Census and Peterborough Local Involvement Network (LINk), which aims to ensure that Peterborough people receive the health and social care that they want.

In addition, residents living on the route of the Perkins Great Eastern Run, on Sunday 10 October 2010, will also be able to find out just how this affects them at their neighbourhood council meeting. Streets on the route will be closed on the morning of the race. Detailed information on the times the roads are expected to be opened will be available at the meetings.

During the meetings council officers will also be giving a presentation on the Site Allocations document which identifies specific locations for future residential, employment and shopping developments in Peterborough.

Council leader Marco Cereste said: "Residents will be able to learn more about a number of important issues which will effect everyone who lives in Peterborough in the coming years. Neighbourhood councils are an excellent way for residents to have their say and play an important part in what's happening in the area they live. I urge anyone who has not already attended their local neighbourhood council meeting to put the date in their diary and make sure they go along and have their say."
