Parents and grandparents of children aged under five living in
Peterborough's Central ward can get help and support to improve
their chances of finding work at Gladstone Children’s Centre, The
Veranda Family Centre, Bourges Boulevard, Peterborough, on Monday
20 September 2010 from 12.30pm to 4.30pm.
Parents can access practical help, information and advice to
improve their career prospects at the monthly drop-in sessions
being hosted by Gladstone Children's Centre in partnership with
JobCentrePlus.
Specialist advisors can also offer work focused interviews and
signpost people to other providers for tailored coaching and
tutoring in areas including personal presentation at job
interviews, searching for jobs and writing CVs.
Councillor Sheila Scott, cabinet member for children's services,
said: "Finding a job can be a tricky process and requires a number
of skills including being able to write a good CV to coming across
well in interviews. These monthly sessions at Gladstone Children's
Centre will offer parents and grandparents of children aged under
five in Central ward the chance to improve their career prospects
and their family's income."
Haroon Bhabha, father's health support co-ordinator at Gladstone
Children's Centre, said: "These monthly sessions are the latest in
a long line of services we are offering at the children's centre to
reduce the impact of unemployment and low income in Central ward.
Other services include a crèche facility for parents accessing
education and vocational courses, pre and post natal care for
mothers and babies, and information about affordable
childcare."
