With just over 50 days left until the Perkins Great
Eastern Run 2012 on Sunday 14 October, there are only four
free training sessions left to perfect your pace and hone your
running style.
The next free training session, led by experienced runners and
coaches from local running clubs takes place at 7pm this Wednesday,
22 August at the Embankment athletics track and there is no need to
book.
Runners are also given advice on their training away from the
fortnightly sessions including tips on the correct running shoes,
injury prevention and nutrition.
Also at the athletics track this week will be supporters of the
Stamford-based charity, Anna’s Hope, with their trademark
fairy present to wave some magic dust over the runners.
Anna’s Hope is the leading children’s brain tumour charity in
the East of England. The charity was formed in 2006 by the parents
of Anna Olivia Hughes, who died of a brain tumour aged just 3 years
and 8 months.
This year, young runners are being encouraged to support Anna’s
Hope as part of the Perkins Great Eastern Run Junior Challenge.
Prizes are up for grabs for groups taking part in the 5km fun run
who raise the most money for Anna’s Hope. School teams or any young
people’s groups, such as a sports team, brownies or youth groups
can enter. Those taking part in the Junior Challenge who are 16
years or under can enter for £5.
