Get in shape for the greatest race in the east

9 July 2012

A series of free training sessions for entrants preparing for the Perkins Great Eastern Run have been announced.

The sessions, which take place in the four months leading up to the race, are designed to give a little extra help to runners of all abilities. The training will be held at the Peterborough Athletics track on Bishops Road near the Peterborough Regional Swimming Pool.

Advance Performance have organised the sessions and every run will be led by experienced runners and coaches from local running clubs.

Training sessions begin at 7pm with a warm up and runners will be divided according to fitness and aspirations.

Annette Joyce, Head of Commercial Operations at Peterborough City Council, said: “We’re now just three months away from the big race and people are beginning to focus on their training. The great thing about these sessions is not only are they free but they are also suitable for all levels as people are divided into different training groups.”

The FREE training dates are:

  • Wednesday 11th July
  • Wednesday 25th July
  • Wednesday 8th August
  • Wednesday 22nd August
  • Wednesday 5th September
  • Wednesday 19th September
  • Wednesday 3rd October

No booking is required, just turn up on the night and be ready to start the warm up at 7pm. Full changing and shower facilities are provided at the venue.

The Perkins Great Eastern Run takes place on 14th October 2012.

Further details about the training dates and a number of downloadable training guides are available at PerkinsGreatEasternRun.co.uk.
