An event extravaganza is set to take place as
part of the ‘Love Your Local Market’ campaign on Saturday 7 July
2012 at Peterborough City Market.
Attractions on the day include a take on a
historical theme with Viking re-enactment battles, involving the
Wodens Hearth and Bi Frost Guard re-enactment groups. The 1940s
Living History Group will provide military displays and commentary
along with music from the 40s and a barbecue.
During the coming months a number of exciting
events are planned to encourage shoppers to visit their local
market on Cattlemarket Road, Peterborough and support traders who
provide a wide range of goods and services.
Future events include music days ranging
across the 60s, 70s and 80s, including Rock ‘n’ Roll, Motown and
Glam Rock, which will provide shoppers with a blast from the
past.
Stephen Woolley, Markets and Commercial
Trading Officer for Peterborough City Council, said: “The
market is a great place to shop and socialise, with 142 sites
selling fresh produce, flowers, greeting cards, pet supplies and
fabric among other things.
“The prices are competitive and you can get
anything from a hair cut to shoe repairs, whilst doing your weekly
shop. So come along and support your local market during
‘Love Your Local Market’ fortnight, we would love to see you
there.”
